– Misleading marketing, says the Consumer Council – news Trøndelag – Local news, TV and radio

– I thought the pizza looked suspiciously like Grandiosa, says Lene Berg Solbu. She was at the restaurant Kompis in Orkanger with a friend, where she ordered a pizza parma. Solbu paid NOK 25 extra for a gluten-free version, which made the meal cost NOK 260 in total. 40 minutes later the waiter came with the food. The pizza had both Parma ham, Parmesan and arugula, and was admittedly gluten-free. Still, it reminded me a bit of a familiar pizza from the freezer counter. – I felt it straight away, says Solbu. I think the employee said it was Grandiosa The pizza both looked and tasted like a classic Grandiosa, but on top there was also a topping that is common on a pizza Parma. – It would almost have been better if they scraped off the original filling before putting on what should be on a Parma pizza, she says. On the way out, she stopped by the till and asked if it was actually a Grandiosa she had received. – “Yes”, he answered behind the till. I saw that he thought it was a bit disgusting, she says. – Topper kaka Kompis has 14 restaurants around the country. The menu states that all pizzas and burgers can be ordered gluten-free. Solbu wishes the restaurant had only told them if they did not have a gluten-free base. Then she would order something else, or go somewhere else. – I find it quite shocking. At least when it cost NOK 25 extra to get gluten-free, says Solbu. – Gluten-free food is expensive, but Grandiosa with a little topping for NOK 260. It tops the cake. She expected to get her money back, but the restaurant has offered her a free meal. She is not sure if she will use it. – I certainly want to visit other restaurants in the chain, because I have heard a lot of good things about them, she says. Cannot confirm or deny Eigil Almenning is chain manager for Kompis. He can neither confirm nor deny whether Solbu has been served a Grandiosa in the restaurant. – Because we have not received the answers we need. We haven’t been able to get hold of the chef since it happened. We have tried to reach him, but have not succeeded so far, he says on Thursday afternoon. – The only thing I can see from the picture is that a bottom that is not ours has been used. But I cannot confirm what has been used. You can speculate, of course, but I don’t want to, he says. Almenning says they will investigate what has happened. – We will follow it up. It looks like our guidelines have not been followed and that purchases have been made outside the purchasing channels we have, he says. news has spoken to the general manager at Kompis Orkanger. She believes the pizza served was not a Grandiosa. Okstad was not at work when it was served. news has also shown the picture of the pizza to Communications Director at Orkla Foods Norway, Dag Olav Stokken. He replies as follows: – Yes, I can confirm that the picture shows a Grandiosa. Misleading Marketing – The marketing says this is supposed to be an Italian pizza. That’s what Thomas Iversen, senior adviser at the Norwegian Consumer Protection Authority, says. – If a ready-made pizza is served that is not of Italian quality, this will be misleading marketing. He says it is misleading because it is not informed in advance. – And as we know, misleading marketing is illegal. Iversen says that in cases like this, customers are entitled to a discount. He believes the customer should get half the price back. Thomas Iversen of the Norwegian Consumer Council believes that the customer is entitled to half price in this case. Photo: Halvor Pritzlaff Njerve / Forbru / Halvor Pritzlaff Njerve / Consumer Council – This is a matter that should be resolved between the customer and the company. And it probably should also have been resolved on the spot. – Does it matter that the customer ate the pizza? – It is of no importance that she ate the pizza as long as she documented that it was a frozen pizza.
