Immediately after the sentence was handed down, it became clear that the man is appealing the sentence and wants to be acquitted of attempted rape and murder, writes Danish TV 2. 22-year-old Mia Skadhauge Stevn was last seen on 6 February 2022 in the city of Aalborg. According to the indictment, the man must have picked her up in a pirate taxi, raped her, threatened her with violence and then killed her. She was then dismembered, and the body parts were scattered in Dronninglund Storskov, north of Aalborg. After a large search operation, Stevn was found on the evening of 10 February.
