Melodi Grand Prix 2024 – the performances in the final – Reviews and recommendations

The article is continuously updated during the live broadcast. The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will be held on Saturday 11 May in Malmö, and as (almost) always, Norway will perform in a semi-final to qualify for the final itself. Who it will be who will lead us there will be decided tonight, when nine finalists will fight against each other to wave the Norwegian flag in an early summer Sweden. In advance, I have announced KEiiNO as my clear favourite. Tom Hugo, Fred Buljo and Alexandra Rotan represented Norway in Eurovision 2019, with the banger “Spirit in the Sky”. This year they perform the song “Damdiggida”, based on the big craze of the 90s: eurodance á la Aqua. One of KEiiNO’s competitors in the final, Erika Norwich with her AI robot Super Rob, has also followed that line with “MY AI”, but when the product is manufactured with artificial intelligence, it is directly disrespectful towards the competition and the other participants, if you ask me. The songs that probably come closest to KEiiNO are Margaret Berger’s “Oblivion” and Gothminister’s “We Come Alive”. Personally, I think that the MGP should be an arena for Norway’s loosest snipes and most twisted inventions, so I put a button on Gothminister as fiercest competitor to KEiiNO. So we have a top three from Norway’s demonstrably worst bookmaker: me.
