30 December 2023 at 18:44 AFP: UN Security Council meeting after attack on Russia The UN Security Council will meet on Saturday after a Ukrainian attack on the Russian city of Belgorod, the Russian UN delegation told the AFP news agency. Two other council members confirm the meeting, writes AFP. It was Russia that requested the meeting after the attack on Belgorod. 14 people are said to have been killed in the attack, according to the Russian authorities. The meeting is scheduled to be held at 10 p.m. Norwegian time. Belgorod is located around 30 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. On Friday, the council convened for an emergency meeting to discuss Russia’s sweeping attack that claimed nearly 40 lives in Ukraine.
