INFO ACTU LYON. An important fire on an electric transformer of RTE is ongoing this Wednesday evening in Echalas (Rhône) on Route de la Croix des Rameaux, approximately thirty kilometers from Lyon, near Givors, according to our information.
A Thirties Firefighters on Site
The fire is producing significant smoke over the Lyon basin . Significant firefighting resources are engaged at the scene. A dozen fire trucks are present with more than thirty firefighters committed. The local firefighters from Echalas were the first to arrive, while reinforcements from Givors, Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, the Croix-Rousse district of Lyon, and the city center are dispatched to the location.
Gendarmerie officers are also on-site, and a “chemical risk” unit from the fire department is also present.
The Rhône prefecture confirmed to actu Lyon that the fire is still ongoing as of 9:30 PM. The blaze started around 6:00 PM.
RTE has also confirmed the fire in the electrical station. “Our teams are on-site,” according to a spokesperson.

<h2 class="wall-content">“No Impact on the Population for Now”</h2>
<p class="wall-content">The cause of the fire is still unknown at this stage, as is its impact on electricity supply in the network.</p>

<p class="wall-content">"We do not know the cause of this fire. There is no impact on the electrical supply in the area," said a spokesperson for RTE.</p>
