13 July 2023 at 09:46 UN: Mass grave found in Sudan A mass grave with at least 87 people is said to have been uncovered in the western part of Darfur in Sudan, reports the Reuters news agency. The 87 must all be part of the Masalit people, who are largely native to Darfur. According to Reuters, there should be information pointing in the direction of the paramilitary group RSF (Rapid Support Forces) and their allies being behind the mass murder. – I strongly condemn the killing of civilians and I am further horrified by the careless treatment of the dead, their families and local communities, said the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, on Thursday. According to the UN, Sudan is on the brink of civil war, after several months of fierce fighting between government forces and the RSF militia.
