Maren Walvik Johnsen fell asleep quietly with her family around her yesterday, writes TV 2. Walvik Johnsen discovered in 2021 that she had cervical cancer, and has shared openly about the disease. – It is with great sadness and a bleeding heart that I unfortunately have to report that my and everyone’s dear Maren passed away from us yesterday afternoon, wrote her father Kjetil Johnsen in a Facebook post. In “Norway behind the facade” on TV 2, she has previously told about her cell test that was misinterpreted, which meant that the cervical cancer was not discovered until it was too late. She died of the disease aged 29. Misinterpreted sample news interviewed Maren in January 2022. At that time she had recently had her first chemotherapy treatment. – I didn’t think it could be cancer. Many people talked about bleeding changes after the vaccine, and it was easy to think that this would pass, Maren said at the time. Before the shock announcement in 2021, she thought the bleeding changes she had were from the corona vaccine. Since she got cancer, she has encouraged other girls who experience this to check themselves. At the age of 25, Maren was tested for cervical cancer. But her Pap test was misinterpreted. The cancer was not discovered until two years later, and by then it had spread. Wanted to create increased awareness Norway got to know Maren through the TV 2 program “Norge bak fasaden”, where she openly told about her story. Then she told about the misinterpreted cell sample. She has been concerned that the Norwegian authorities must take greater responsibility for overcoming the disease. When she was told that the cell sample was perfectly fine, a new analysis was taken which showed that the sample was misinterpreted, and that the cancer should have been discovered. Misinterpretation of cell samples has now led to a desire to offer all women an HPV test. For Maren, it came too late, even though she told the channel that it was an important victory. – Maren was an inspiration to many, including me. Remember that Maren wants us to celebrate life and remember, all the fun – what gives us joy, the father wrote in the Facebook post. Maren will be buried in Oslo according to her own wishes, where she lived for the last ten years.
