Decreases with age Talking in sleep is most common in children and is something we grow out of during puberty or adulthood. I myself started talking in my sleep at the age of 31 – what could be the reason for this? I think Bjorvatn is right in what he says here: – Talking in sleep and all parasomnias can be related to drug use, stress and little sleep. So if you have started on new drugs and started talking after that – that is a probable explanation, says the researcher. I not only talk in my sleep either, sometimes I take a stroller too. Half talk in their sleep There is little research on why someone talks in their sleep, what it means and how many actually do it. Bjørn Bjorvatn says that in 2010 a population study was conducted in Norway. As many as 67 percent said they had talked in their sleep during their lives, which makes it quite common.
