Manchester United kept up with party football

25 May 2023 at 22:58 Manchester United waited with festive football – ready for the Champions League Manchester United needed one point to secure a place in the Champions League next season, one round before the end of the Premier League season. They did it brilliantly at home against Chelsea. Casemiro sent United into the lead after just five minutes and in extra time Anthony Martial made sure it was 2-0 at the break. In the second half, there was sometimes a cannonade towards the Chelsea goal and goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford made it 4-0 with ten minutes to go. Towards the end of the match João Félix reduced, but there was never any doubt where the victory would end and United were closer 5-1 in extra time than Chelsea was another reduction. United are now third, two points behind fourth-placed Newcastle and six points behind fifth-placed Liverpool. The top four qualify for the Champions League. For the Manchester club, an FA Cup final against city rivals Manchester City also awaits in a week and a half. For Chelsea, the season has been a big failure, which stands with only 43 points in 37 games and is down to twelfth place. – There is simply no chance. It’s absolutely horrible, all the way. Absolutely everything. These are personal mistakes. It is lethargy. They don’t stick together as a team. They don’t look like moonlight. Simply terrible, says Viaplay’s football expert Pål André Helland.
