Man in his 60s is missing, deceased sent for autopsy – news Troms and Finnmark

– Forensic investigations will be able to confirm whether it is the missing man who has been found dead, the police in Finnmark write in a press release. – The police are carrying out forensic investigations at the scene of the fire and will continue with this today. We are also in the process of interviewing witnesses and have notified next of kin of the discovery of a deceased person, says police attorney Ylva H. Kvikstad. Early in the investigation, Kvikstad states that the preliminary investigations indicate that the fire started in the housing unit where the deceased and one other person were. The other person must have had help to get out. – We are in the process of interviewing witnesses, but we are still early in the investigation. It is too early to say anything about the cause of the fire. We are investigating the matter widely and at the present time cannot conclude anything regarding the cause of the fire or whether the fire may have been arson or not. We cannot rule anything out this early in the investigation, says Kvikstad. – Shocking situation The fire started on Wednesday evening in a wooden building with four residential units. The house is located in Kronstad in Alta. The police received a report about the fire at 21:40, and all emergency services responded. Municipal director Oddvar Konst in Alta says those affected by the fire are taken care of by the health care system. – We map additional needs, so that we can be on the supply side in the follow-up of the next of kin. He says the fire has been a shocking situation for some of those affected. Therefore, the municipality must find out what needs the different people have. The municipal director also says that it is wrong that someone dies in a fire. – It’s not a nice situation to be in, but we have to deal with it. Both in relation to the fire, in relation to the police and in relation to the healthcare system – and the relatives who are in need. Beyond that, I cannot comment on the purely hypothetical in this, he concludes.
