The fire in the apartment building in Ottestad in Stange was reported at 9pm on Sunday evening. A man in his 60s was seriously injured, and died today from his injuries. This is confirmed by deputy police officer Elisabeth Morseth Palfi to news. He was first sent to the hospital in Hamar before being sent on to the burns department at Haukeland Hospital in Bergen. The next of kin have been notified. Major damage to the building There are six apartments in the building, which is a municipal housing. The other residents were accounted for and no one else is said to have been injured. There were no visible open flames and the fire was extinguished within half an hour. – The extinguishing work went so quickly. We spent most of our time getting an overview of the people who live here, said police task leader Lina Øyhus to news on Sunday evening. The police are currently conducting technical investigations and interviewing witnesses. They are asking people who were near the home before the fire brigade arrived, or who have photos and/or video of the fire, to get in touch.
