Man in his 60s charged with attempted murder – news Rogaland – Local news, TV and radio

– The accused is at the police station now, and if he wants to explain himself, we will interview him tonight, says police lawyer Christine Kleppa. The police received a report of a stabbing at 1.44pm and quickly moved to the scene. The police came to the scene with several patrols, but could not say anything more than that there was a serious incident of violence to news earlier in the day. Kleppa can now confirm that it is a stabbing, as TV Haugaland first reported. The man was arrested in a car at his home, approximately fifteen minutes later. The arrest is said to have taken place without drama. The man will now be charged with attempted murder. The offended woman, who is also in her 60s, was taken to hospital with unknown extent of damage. The people involved were previously married, but now separated, the police write in the report. According to Kleppa, the man has a contact ban on the woman and is involved in another criminal case. – I cannot say much about the other criminal case, beyond the fact that the man has been charged. It is under investigation. – How did you know who the accused was, as the arrest happened so quickly? – There were a number of witnesses present. It was not problematic to get hold of him. The police have not been able to speak to the woman yet, and cannot say much about her condition. – The police have not been in a position to talk to her, says Kleppa. A search has also been carried out in the man’s home. The scene has been cordoned off and secured, and forensics officers are examining the scene this evening. – There are also witnesses who are being questioned now. We are collecting video surveillance images, says Kleppa. The police know that there is video surveillance in the area, but do not yet know whether exactly where the incident happened was filmed. The police also want to secure any photos and videos from witnesses. – Have the police received pictures or videos? – We are checking this up now, says the police attorney. She says that the police cannot say more precisely where this knife was found. – The knife will be forensically examined. The police are now focusing on mapping the cause, sequence of events and motive. We have to be sparing in sharing the information we have, as there are more interviews to go, says Christina Kleppa.
