– The police can inform you that a violent incident took place last night at Sunnaas hospital. The violent incident is coded as attempted murder, says police attorney Torgeir Lutro to news. The incident happened at 00.30 on Wednesday night. A man in his 40s has been charged in the case. He will be produced for custody on Thursday or Friday. A woman in her 40s is offended in the case. The woman has undergone surgery and is hospitalized after the attempted murder. – The injuries are not life-threatening, but I would describe them as serious, says Lutro. According to Lutro, the man was a patient at the hospital, while the woman was visiting. The man and the woman live together. Both are Ukrainian citizens with legal residence in Norway, the police attorney states. The man’s defender, Jorun Hegle Hovda, states that she will meet her client this evening, and does not wish to comment on the case until she has spoken to him. Victim in hospital Lutro says neither the accused nor the victim has been questioned. The police want to question the man tonight. – As of now, we do not consider it appropriate to interrogate the victim, but we aim to interrogate her tomorrow if it is medically justifiable, says Lutro. Sunnaas hospital in Nesodden in Viken is a rehabilitation hospital for people who have experienced serious illness or injury. Clinic manager Kathi Sørvig at Sunnaas hospital does not want to comment on the course of events to news. – It happened in one of our primary departments in the hospital. This means that there are patients who come in with new injuries, says Sørvig to news. When the incident took place, it was notified so that the hospital’s staff came to where it happened, says the clinic manager.
