Man dead after violence in Namsos

– We see this as a serious incident of violence resulting in death. The investigation is very much in the initial phase, and we are working to map out what has happened, says Åsta Elden, the prosecuting officer in Trøndelag police district. A man was found dead late on Thursday evening, and his partner has been arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm resulting in death. She is now being questioned by the police. Photo: Espen Sandmo Got a message on Thursday evening The message came in to the police at 11pm on Thursday. – What I can say is that the police and ambulance went to an address in Namsos, following a report of violence, says operations manager Trond Hangaas in the police. The crisis team from Namsos municipality has been mobilized. – They were out last night in connection with what happened. That’s what the municipal manager for health and welfare in Namsos municipality, Gøril Skogseth Andreassen, says. The police are at the scene on Friday, and have blocked off an area outside the house. Photo: Espen Sandmo Police attorney Aage Sliper Midling will not say anything about the gender of either the deceased or the accused for the time being. – We are starting the investigation, so unfortunately I can’t say much now, says Midling. It is not known whether the suspect admits or denies having done something criminal. The police will decide during the day whether the person in question should be detained.
