The police had to fire warning shots to get control of a man with a knife at Ila in Oslo on Sunday. He is said to have stabbed an employee at an institution where he is a user. Now he is charged with attempted murder, writes Dagbladet. The police state that the man has not yet been appointed a defense attorney, so it is unknown how he will respond to the charges. The employee is seriously injured. The police received a report about the incident at 8.11pm on Sunday. The suspected perpetrator ran from the scene after the knife attack and was arrested some time later at Ila church. After he ran from the institution, the man is said to have threatened several others, including health personnel, reports TV 2. To gain control of the man, the police fired warning shots. Then the man dropped the knife and lay down on the ground. Left the scene The police received a report that the person concerned had stabbed an employee at the institution with a stabbing weapon. The suspect left the scene and was thus pursued by the police, who fired a warning shot. – As I understand it, this happened inside the building itself. The man was not injured by the shot. The victim has been taken to hospital. The person is seriously injured. A further person is said to have suffered a laceration because of the man. Engebretsen says the police currently know little about the cause of the incident. Special adviser Kathinka Selsjord in the Sagene district states that the institution has called in extra personnel to look after other residents and employees. He says that two police officers ran through the street shouting that they were armed police. – It didn’t look like they knew exactly where to look. Jansson filmed this part of the arrest. The video shows that the man resists a little, but is taken into a police car. According to Jansson, kicking sounds came from inside the police car after the suspect was put into it. The police are now considering whether they should notify the Bureau that they fired warning shots, says the operations manager.
