A 46-year-old man from Bergen is charged with aggravated rape of a child under 14. He is also charged with having had sexual intercourse with children between the ages of 14 and 16, as well as for having produced and distributed abuse material on the dark web. All the assaults are said to have taken place over the internet. But the man is also accused of filming naked children and adults at a water park in Bergen. According to the indictment, the man hid the camera in a soap bottle. The indictment from public prosecutor Eirik Stolt-Nielsen is a full 15 pages long and more than 40 children are listed as offended in the case. When news wrote about the investigation last summer, the police had at that time identified 40 Norwegian boys as victims of the man’s online activities. But the police also believed that the scale could be “much, much larger” and that there could be up to 1,000 victims in the case, both in Norway and abroad. – We have succeeded in identifying some of the offended, but far from all, says section leader for prosecution in the West police district, Janne Ringset Heltne, to news måndag. Bergensaren was arrested in mid-December 2020 and has been in custody for a long time. The 46-year-old was exposed by Kripos and the investigation was later named “Operation Krypt”. The man who has now been charged has followed a procedure that police investigators know from many other online abuse cases. The 46-year-old has pretended to be a girl on the chat services Omegle and Skype. There he has played a video recording of the girl to the offended party, where she performs sexual acts with herself. – Many boys are tricked into thinking they are communicating with this girl and are asked to dress naked and perform sexual acts on themselves. The man films this and shares the material on the dark web, Heltne told news last summer. Risking 21 years Paragraph 301 of the Criminal Code, which deals with aggravated rape of children under the age of 14, has a penalty of 21 years in prison. Defendants have also been charged under sections 311 and 299. The case has not yet been given dates for court proceedings in the Hordaland district court.
