21 August 2022 at 20:51 Major power outage in Nordland – 1,500 lightning strikes in six hours On Sunday evening, there were several reports of a major power outage in Salten in Nordland. The salt includes eight municipalities. Among the municipalities that lost power are Bodø, Fauske, Beiarn and Saltdal. Large parts of the cities were blacked out for several minutes. The power went out around 8:35 p.m. and should have returned around 8:50 p.m. If anyone experiences a power cut, they are recommended to contact Bodø Energi. It is currently unknown how many municipalities and customers were affected. Kjetil Kaalaas in the Nordland police district tells news that a lightning strike must be the cause of the power outage. – It is presumably a lightning strike in an overhead line that has led to this. It was fixed relatively quickly when it was discovered. According to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, there have been 314 lightning strikes in Nordland in the last hour. In the last six hours, the number is close to 1,500.
