Since the election in 2023, Lubna Jaffery has sat in the Storting, as a member of the control and constitution committee. There she is a permanent deputy representative for the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Marte Mjøs Persen. Jaffery is a former labor city councilor in Bergen, where she was also acting city council leader. She has also been State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture from 2009–2012. The 43-year-old was appointed by Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap) after Anette Trettebergstuen had to resign as a result of a breach of the integrity rules last Friday. Trettebergstuen was formally dismissed in grace by the King in the Cabinet on Wednesday.
