2 July 2023 at 17:24 Tour de France: Lafay shook up the field and won Victor Lafay (Cofidis) fooled everyone just before the race and won the 2nd stage of the Tour de France bicycle race. It seemed to be going for a sprint, but Lafay delivered a monster move just before the finish line and edged favorite Wout van Aert for the win. Lafay cheered uncontrollably, while van Aert threw the bike away in anger. Sunday’s tough finish meant that almost only the overall riders were left when it was all decided. Tobias Halland Johannessen (Uno-X) hung on for a long time, but had to drop the lead just before the last hill top. Edvald Boasson-Hagen was in trouble for a long time, but dropped the lead towards the end and finished far behind. Adam Yates (UAE) retains the yellow leader’s jersey.
