Three buildings were completely damaged in the fire that started on Saturday evening. Firefighters battled the flames throughout the night. Only at 07:00 on Sunday morning could they say that a major urban fire had been averted. – Heroes Between 70 and 80 people from various emergency services participated to save the city’s conservation-worthy centre. When it became clear that they were unable to extinguish the fire in the initial phase, they worked furiously to isolate the fire and limit it. Gallefoss says that the fire service collaborated with the Coast Guard, Red Cross, Norwegian People’s Aid, Civil Defense and Kragerø municipality, in addition to the police and health. – It has been a formidable effort, he says.
