The emergency services were notified of the fire on Strandpromenaden in Kristiansand at 00:20. Just before 1 o’clock the building was engulfed in flames, but there was never any danger of it spreading to nearby buildings. About an hour later, the police confirmed that the building had been burnt down. The cause of the fire has not been clarified. The house, an old boathouse, is used by the Church’s Bymission, which runs a rehabilitation service for people with substance abuse problems on site. The house contains, among other things, a cafe and a workshop.
