– The cities are densifying, building higher and adapting to the climate. But it seems that there are no limits to urban development and land use in the mountain world. Kjetil Kjenseth says so. Has left is his first candidate for the county council in Innlandet. – It is time for the large cottage municipalities in the interior to come together and take greater responsibility for sustainable development, he believes. He claims that up to 20,000 new cabins are planned in the large cabin municipalities in the county in the next few years. ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATION: Ketil Kjenseth, the Liberal Party’s 1st candidate for the county council, believes that an incentive is needed to meet the requirement to cut emissions and use less nature. Photo: Jonas Oden Ulset / news No building ban No suggests Innlandet Venstre “swan labeling” of cabin areas. Kjenseth believes this will be a quality assurance that says that environmental care has been taken in the development of the cabin area. The consumer must know that what one pays for goods and development is good for the environment. – We have set great demands on ourselves to cut emissions and use less nature. Then I think we need such incentives. This will be a help for all of us. Kjenseth clarifies that this should not be a building ban. – We will not stop using nature, but we must do it as sustainably as possible. RESISTANCE TO COTTAGES: Several people believe that cabin construction goes too far against nature, according to a survey from February 2023. In Lom, plans for cabin construction were stopped after pressure from, among others, pasture farmers and the Nature Conservation Association. – “Grønsking” Johannes Christian Wahl Gran is MDG’s first candidate for the county council in the interior He is strongly critical of Kjenseth and Venstre’s proposal. Wahl Gran believes that a “swan label” of cabin fields will be a poor excuse for expanding cabin fields and developing untouched nature. – This is an attempt to “greenwash” Norwegian cabin construction, he believes. – Eco-labelling new cabins and cabin fields will not solve anything in the face of the natural crisis. On the contrary, it will give approval to continue the development that destroys Norwegian nature, says Wahl Gran. VERY CRITICAL: Johannes Christian Wahl Gran, MDG’s 1st candidate for the county council, believes the proposal is an attempt to “greenwash” Norwegian cabin construction. Photo: Stine Bækkelien / news He claims: – The Liberals skip over one point, namely the infrastructure. Motorways, ploughing, water, drainage, sewerage and electricity cannot be ignored regardless of how environmentally friendly the cabins you build are. Creating value Audun Skattebo is managing director of the cabin manufacturer Tinde Hytter. He believes that swan labeling of cabins is a good idea, and says that it is in line with their way of thinking. – Tinde has already made a number of moves. We think about sustainability and work with new solutions. Such a measure will only worsen the work we are already doing. GOOD IDEA: Audun Skattebo, managing director of Tinde Hytter, is positive about Venstre’s proposal for “swan labeling” of cabin fields. Photo: Jonas Oden Ulset / news – We are positive that there will now be a constructive proposal. Here we can sit down together and create values going forward that are very important for District Norway, says Skattebo. Ketil Kjenseth in Innlandet Venstre believes that Innlandet can become a beacon in the climate fight. He hopes to inspire the rest of the country. – I want the State Administrator, the county council, the large cottage municipalities and tourism to join a joint project for sustainability, says Kjenseth.
