Lars Løkke Rasmusen and the Moderates – news Urix – Foreign news and documentaries

Rasmussen launched a new political party as recently as April this year. The moderates position themselves at the center of Danish politics. They have not wanted to point to a candidate for prime minister from one of the two blocs. Instead, they opted for a broad collaboration in the city centre. It seems to have gone down well with voters. According to the forecasts, the Moderates may become the third largest party in the Folketing. It is uncertain whether the blue or red bloc will get the 90 mandates they need to have a majority. Rasmussen can thus become the one who secures a majority for Denmark’s next government. Has the Moderates’ breakthrough turned Danish politics on its head? The picture shows one of the party’s posters from the election campaign. Photo: Marit Kolberg / news – Will be able to feel the difference The cheers were loud during the party leader’s speech at the election vigil. – We have managed to create a party that is not against anyone or anything, but is for something, says Rasmussen to his party colleagues. – If the forecasts hold roughly like this, then this new, small party, the Moderates, will arrive in the Folketing in a way where you will be able to notice the difference. Rasmussen says there is a need for a new way of working, and time for change. – We should not focus on moving a grain of sand, when the shovel has first been invented and you can move a whole shovelful at once. He was a man and politician who was surrounded by scandals for ten years. – After all, this is a man who has survived the unbelievable as a politician, and now he manages this feat of becoming a kingmaker. Hilde Sandvik is a presenter in Norwegian, Swedish and Danish. Photo: Leif Rune Løland / news Will cooperate both ways After the election day polls had been published, party secretary in the Moderates, Anders Schiermer, told news that they should keep a cool head until the final results are available. The party has not yet said which prime ministerial candidate they will point to. Schiermer would not specify this either. – Nothing has been said about which specific parties it is about, but we would like to have broad cooperation. – Both red and blue, or do you have to choose? – We have gone to the election on the basis, in the election campaign, that it is both red and blue that are gathered in the middle. Party secretary of the Moderates Anders Schiermer says their wish is to bring the parties together in the middle. Photo: Marit Kolberg / news
