25 December 2022 at 20:25 Large avalanche in Austria – video suggests that around ten have been taken A major rescue operation has been launched after a large avalanche occurred in the Trittkopf mountain, which is located in Zürs in the Alps in western Austria. – We do not know for sure whether anyone has been taken by the avalanche and is lying under the snow. But according to eyewitnesses and a video we have seen, it looks as if ten people may have been caught, says Herman Fercher of the tourist police in Zürs to NTB. – There have been reports of people who have been reported missing. There is ongoing police work to clarify this, says Fercher. He says that the police have no information about the nationality of those who are missing now. There are so far no indications that Norwegians have been affected, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tells NTB. One person was rescued with injuries. Helicopters were initially used in the search, but after a short time they had to stop. The search continues on foot. Around a hundred people take part in the action. It has already become dark in the area, which makes the rescue work more difficult. (NTB)
