The number of new hospital admissions with respiratory infections is increasing and is significantly higher than at the same time in the years before the pandemic, writes FHI. In week 59, 1,752 patients were admitted to hospital with respiratory infections, up from 1,565 the week before. 319 new patients have been admitted to hospital with coronavirus as the main reason for admission in week 50. A further 678 patients have been admitted with confirmed corona infection, where it is not stated whether corona is the main reason for admission. The number of corona deaths for week 50 is increasing compared to week 45, when there were 43 corona-related deaths. In week 50, the figure was 77.
