It concerns four NSM (Naval Strike Missile) Coastal Defense System (CDS) squadrons worth approx. NOK 16 billion, it is stated in the stock exchange announcement. It is the largest single contract for the Kongsberg Group ever. – It is an important milestone in our more than 200-year history. Poland has been a long-term partner, and we are proud to sign this agreement, says CEO of Kongsberg Gruppen, Geir Håøy in a statement. Poland first acquired the missile system from the Kongsberg Group in 2008, and then expanded with an additional squadron in 2014. The new delivery means that the more than ten-year collaboration will continue into the 2030s. According to the stock exchange announcement from Kongsberg Gruppen, the NSM is a fifth-generation “Strike Missile”, and is considered the most advanced naval target missile in the world. It was originally developed by the company for the Norwegian Navy. The NSM can be launched from both land and sea-based platforms and is already in use by, or under delivery to, 12 countries. – The coastal defense system NSM plays a significant role in supporting the ability of nations to defend their territory and their citizens.
