Kolstad keeps the place in the master league – news Trøndelag – Local news, TV and radio

– It’s incredibly nice to get everything in place. That’s what general manager in Kolstad, Jostein Sivertsen, says. Since the autumn of 2021, Kolstad Handball has had an ambitious investment, but earlier this summer the club confirmed that they had to cut salaries. – We are very happy that Kolstad will be playing in the Champions League, and that other Norwegian clubs are going out in Europe. That’s what Handball president Kåre Geir Lio says. The European Handball Federation started its own investigation into the money mess, and several people pointed to the possibility that Kolstad risked losing his place in the prestigious tournament because of the money problems. There were strong reactions in the European handball community when the financial situation in Kolstad handball became known. On Monday, it was announced that they will be allowed to stay. – We have had good communication with the European Handball Federation. We and Kolstad have given the answers they are satisfied with. We are happy about that, says Lio. He says that the plan is to come to Trondheim to see Kolstad play in the Champions League. – We have now received all the paperwork, and now we will fill the Trondheim spectrum, says a satisfied Sivertsen. The club won everything in Norway last season and will now debut in the master league in September. Increased costs – The targets have been set too high, and I have to take self-criticism for that. This was said by chairman Jostein Sivertsen during a press conference earlier this summer. The club then concluded that they should cut all wages above 6G by 30 percent in the 2023/2024 season as a result of increased costs. Sivertsen would not go into how much money was involved. The increased costs in the club occurred in connection with all the changes in society. Chairman Sivertsen said so. – When we pressed the start button for this ambitious venture in autumn 2021, we were sure that everything was in place to start this sporting adventure. But the worldview changed significantly when Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Sivertsen wrote in a press release.
