On Sunday evening, Biden announced on X that he was withdrawing from the US presidential election. He has pointed to his vice president, Kamala Harris as his successor. – Today I want to offer my full support to Kamala becoming the party’s candidate this year. Democrats – it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this, he writes on X. The reactions from Republicans have not been long in coming. They have to figure that out, Johnson told CNN. According to Johnson, it is wrong to put someone else in, when it is Biden who has received 14 million votes through the primary election. Scott Applewhite / AP – It will be very interesting to see if the so-called Democratic Party, the Democrats, go into the back room somewhere and replace the candidate with another. According to CNN, it is not certain what the consequences will be as Biden withdrew before he was formally nominated by the Democratic Party. The worst president in history Shortly after Biden announced his resignation, CNN spoke with Donald Trump. He tells them that Biden will be remembered as “by a wide margin the worst president in the country’s history”. Trump also tells CNN that he believes Kamala Harris will be easier to beat in the presidential election than Biden would have been. On his message service Truth Social, Trump writes, among other things: – Corrupt Joe Biden was not fit to run for president, and is certainly not fit to serve, and never has been! Screenshot from Truth Social He further writes that Biden made a career out of lies and fake news, and by not leaving his basement. Trump also writes that the apparatus around Biden knew that he was not fit to be president. – Look what he has done to our country with millions of people coming across our border, completely uncontrolled and unverified, many from prisons, mental institutions and record numbers of terrorists. He concludes by saying that the United States will suffer because of Biden’s presidency. It may indicate that the Trump campaign hoped otherwise. – They had probably hoped that Biden would remain as a candidate. They think they can absolutely beat him, says Sofie Haugestøl, associate professor at the University of Oslo and US expert.
