15 November 2022 at 10:21 Judgment in the Vollen case is ready The 23-year-old who in 2014 took the life of a night watchman at a child welfare institution in Asker, will be transferred to compulsory mental health care. The Eidsivating Court of Appeal has now decided that. The ruling is in line with both the prosecutor’s and the defense’s claim. When the murder was committed, he was a 15-year-old girl, but since then he has changed his legal gender and is now referred to as a man. The court concluded in 2016 that he was sane and he was sentenced to detention for nine years. But earlier this year, the case was reopened because new experts believe he was psychotic at the time of the murder. The Court of Appeal has now concluded that he was too ill to be punished. Social worker Anna Kristin Gillebo Backlund (30) was strangled and stabbed a total of 21 times when she alone looked after the 15-year-old on the night of Tuesday 28 October 2014. The murder took place at the child welfare institution SmÃ¥ Enheter in Asker.
