– It’s absolutely disgusting that “Troll” was recorded here, says Mari Wedum in Visit Jotunheimen. The film is one of five nominees for the award for Europe’s best film location. Wedum says it means a lot to those in Lom and Jotunheimen that “Troll” gets extra attention. – It is great for the villagers and of course important for us to show off the beautiful mountain areas to even more people, and get even more people to visit here, she says. Mari Wedum from Visit Jotunheimen and Hanne Larsen from the East Norwegian Film Commission are delighted with the nomination. Can only nominate one location For the past six years, the European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN) has named Europe’s best film locations. There are 99 European film commissions in the European network, says Larsen. This year, 24 have applied, EUFCN reports. The films or series must have been released in the period 3 October 2022 to 11 September 2023. The Romsdal gondola has been nominated for one of Europe’s finest film locations. Director Roar Uthaug believes that Gudbrandsdalen as a film location is largely to blame for them being nominated. – We wanted it to really showcase the best of Norwegian nature, and also have something magical and adventurous about it. Trolls are central to Norwegian fairy tales. Photo: Netflix He can’t say anything about the next “Troll” film, other than that it will be good there too. – It is a little too early to reveal anything about it yet, but there will be a lot of spectacular Norwegian nature in the sequel.
