14 March 2023 at 03:28 Jesuits name 27 abusive priests The Jesuit order in Canada has published a list of 27 priests and church employees who they say are “highly likely” to have committed sexual abuse against minors during the past 60 years. Most of those named are dead, CBC writes. The revelations go back several generations and the church has reacted slowly to this, according to Erik Oland who is the leader of the Catholic Jesuit Order in Canada. Since 2020, the church has had the help of independent investigators to review reports from six decades. After three years of investigation, the list is presented. Many of the cases have never ended up in the legal system. The list is made public to acknowledge the traumatic abuses, to promote healing and to ensure justice, Oland writes in a letter to the public that has been posted on the church’s website.
