Jesper (20) entered his dream study program at AHO – news Nordland

All good things come in threes. At least for Jesper Hove Henriksen from Bodø, who at the third attempt finally got into the study of his dreams. – It is a great relief. It’s nice to know what to do in the autumn. Going blind is the worst. Just over 136,000 people have applied for higher education and today everyone should have received an answer. JOIN THE ARCHITECTURE LINE: – It’s nice to know what to do in the autumn, says Jesper Henriksen. Photo: PRIVAT Two years in a row, Henriksen has had his application for the prestigious architecture course at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) rejected. But this year it went his way, even with 19 applicants for each study place on the architecture line. – I was alone in the apartment when I checked. The heart went a little in the throat. It said that I had an offer, so I accepted right away. – Nice to know what you have to do. To get into the architecture and design college you have to pass an entrance exam. – I don’t quite know what they are judging based on, but there is probably a lot of creativity, says Henriksen. – I delivered a model of a warehouse at a train station of all things. And then I designed a building in my local area and made improvements. TRAIN STATION: As part of the entrance exam, Jesper Hove Henriksen made a warehouse for a train station. The model is, among other things, made of cardboard. It’s been many years, but now I’m one step closer. The education areas with the greatest percentage increase in first-choice applicants are economic-administrative subjects and tourism. CREATIVITY: Jesper Hove Henriksen’s entrance exam to the School of Architecture and Design (AHO). He doesn’t quite know how they judge the models, but thinks it’s a lot about creativity. Most important of all: Thank you YES If you are lucky enough to have been offered the study you wanted, it is important to say yes, and before 24 July at 23.59. If you don’t do that, you risk being left without a study place, explains adviser at the Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir), Kiya Ahmed. – There is a reason why Samordna uptakt has a deadline. You have to answer. If not, they will distribute the place to those on the waiting list. So it’s super important to say yes. When you have accepted, you will receive an e-mail from the place of study and Studentweb about when and where you will meet. THANK YOU: Kiya Ahmed at the Directorate for Higher Education and Skills says it is super important to say yes when you are offered a place to study. Photo: HK-DIR Keep your spirits up If you have ended up on the waiting list, the most important thing is to keep your spirits up, says Ahmed. – Even if you are number 50 or 100 on the waiting list, that does not mean you should give up. Someone may change their mind and not accept the offer, or forget to accept. The waiting list is updated regularly. Therefore, it may be a good idea to go in and follow along to see how you are doing. – For many, not being offered a place to study can feel like a broken dream, but it is important to remember that you are not alone, says Ahmed. Last year’s figures show that half of the applicants were not offered their first choice. – Say yes to the offer you have received, even if it is not the first choice, while also putting yourself on the waiting list. – Be open to several perspectives and look at other possibilities. The second, third and fourth choice can be just as good as the first choice, says Ahmed. Hope is never lost Even if you haven’t gotten in where you wanted, all hope is not lost. On 19 July, an overview of available study places on Samordna optakt will be published. From Thursday 20 July at 9am you can apply for the available places. – Here it is a first-come, first-served principle. As long as you meet the admission requirements, you can enter. Who knows, maybe your dream study is waiting somewhere else in the country. There are also many other possibilities, such as individual subjects, taking up subjects or gaining work experience. – If you are still unsure or want to explore other possibilities, you can contact karriereveilden.no. It is a public service that is completely free, where you can get guidance via chat and phone, says Ahmed. ALSO READ:
