Jens Stoltenberg will chair the International Security Conference in Munich. This is confirmed by the conference at X. – I have devoted my entire political life to maintaining peace. It is a great honor for me to lead the security conference in Munich and contribute to its mission “peace through dialogue”, says Stoltenberg in a press release. Stoltenberg has been NATO chief since 2014. Mark Rutte took over as NATO’s secretary general on 1 October. The security conference in Munich started as an informal discussion forum for defense policy, but over the years has acquired a broader security policy agenda. It annually gathers a number of heads of state, politicians, researchers and senior managers. Over 450 people attend the conference annually. Several media have previously reported that Stoltenberg will be the conference’s new leader, but neither NATO nor the security conference wanted to confirm this earlier. (NTB)
