Despite the rain and a gray start to the week, weather reports from all over the country promise sunshine and temperatures of up to 20 degrees in the first half of September. – Many people think that summer is over, but it’s not quite autumn yet, says meteorologist on duty, Geir Ottar Fagerlid at the Meteorological Institute. Highest temperature in Southern Norway All parts of Norway will enjoy the fine weather, but Southern Norway looks set to be the temperature winner with over 25 degrees. In East and West Norway, temperatures will stay around 20 degrees. Further north it will be somewhat colder. Nevertheless, September will be fine throughout the country, says Fagerlid. – Good weather is reported for the first half of the month. There will be many days with nice temperatures and some sun, he says. Danger warning in western Norway Before the fine weather sets in, however, a lot of precipitation is expected from Monday afternoon to Tuesday morning. On Monday, the Meteorological Institute sent out a yellow danger warning for rain and landslides in parts of Austlandet, Westlandet and Møre og Romsdal. Locally, as much as 60 millimeters of rain can fall in 12 hours. An orange danger warning has also been sent out for floe at Mjøsa, Vorma and parts of the Drammensvassdraget. Glimpse of northern lights According to the Værbitt group on Facebook, the first northern lights of autumn were recorded in northern Norway on Sunday. The meteorologist thinks it may be a while before they get the chance again. – Good temperatures have been reported, but there will still be some clouds in between, he says.
