– It’s almost a parody – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcast schedule

– I had hoped to get a race where driving was in focus, but again it looks like it is about “track limits”, sighed Viaplay commentator Atle Gulbrandsen during the Formula 1 race in Austria. This weekend, a total of four races have been run in both Formula 1 and Formula 2 in Austria. Both spectators and TV viewers have been served nail-biting drama, but many have also been annoyed by the many time penalties that have been given along the way. Driving outside the track markings The background for the many time penalties is a breach of the so-called “track limit”. This means that the cars had been outside the track markings more than four times, which happens frequently on the Spielberg track in Austria. Formula 1 stars Lando Norris and Pierre Gasly were both given a five-second time penalty, which naturally marked their races. Several other drivers, who risked being punished, also expressed their frustration over the team radio, including Lewis Hamilton. Gulbrandsen believes that someone must take action on the field in Austria. – You have to build courses with grass and gravel outside. I think it gets easier parodic when it becomes like today where so many punishments are handed out. It will be difficult for these drivers as well. They should not concentrate primarily on staying within the white line. Car racing is about getting to the finish line first, Gulbrandsen said in the Viaplay studio after the Formula 2 race earlier in the day. TOOK FIRE: Carlos Sainz’s car caught fire during the race. He won ahead of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. This was Leclerc’s third win this season. The 24-year-old won the main races in Bahrain and Australia. – I was so scared. It was so hard at the end with the gas. It was very twisted, but we got to the finish line, said Leclerc who had problems with the gas towards the end of the race. – It was a difficult day. 2nd place is in any case a good result on a tough day like this, Verstappen said. Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz was not so lucky. The Spaniard was long overdue to be able to take 2nd place and secure a double Ferrari victory when the car suddenly started to burn. The Spaniard drove to the side to try to get out of the car, but was unable to put it in gear and it rolled backwards. The rescue crew was released and had a stone put behind the wheel so the car stopped, and the 27-year-old finally got out safely and gave indications that he was doing well.
