Italian MC drivers were given a lift by the tow truck over Saltfjellet – news Nordland

Italian Fabrizio Lercari and his wife Cinzia Viziano are on a motorcycle holiday in Norway. The goal is Lofoten and Nordkapp. But on the trip up the E6 over Saltfjellet on the way to Bodø today, there was a roadblock for the Italians. Strong winds and dense snow showers resulted in mirror-smooth roads. Near Saltfjellet’s highest point, the motorcyclists were stopped by the NAF and the tow truck. – It is completely irresponsible to drive over the mountain here, says Stig Skjøstad in NAF. Fabrizio Lercari couldn’t help but agree. – It wasn’t such a good idea, I think now, says Lercari. LET THE BIKE STAY: – Over the mountain here now you shouldn’t ride a motorbike, says Stig Skjøstad in NAF. The bikes were strapped to the back of the car, and the Italians were allowed to sit inside in the heat. – We have to help people. That is what we are for, says Skjøstad. More danger warnings in the north A yellow danger warning has been issued for snow in the mountain passes in Nordland and southern parts of Troms. During the night until today, snow was expected at 600-700 meters above sea level, but the snow line is expected to stretch down to 400-500 meters during the evening. A yellow wind warning has also been issued for large parts of northern Norway. Due to the weather, several high-speed boat and ferry departures have been canceled today, with several reschedulings throughout the evening. Had to change to winter tires Just a week before June, you might have thought it was okay to drive on summer tires, but the weather has other plans. Several northerners who plan to cross a mountain pass in Pentecost have been advised to switch back to winter tyres. The deputy chairman of the county council, Svein Eggesvik, has followed that advice to the letter. Eggesvik is going to Sweden for the Whitsun weekend, and had to deal with an unexpected tire change. – When winter hits, it’s right to change, so we just have to take a couple of laps at it, smiles Eggesvik. – Are you getting bored? – You can get tired of bad weather, but that’s how it is to live in Northern Norway. Suddenly the weather is cold and bad, then the weather is warm and lovely again. We have to live with the weather we have.
