– It was painful, it was like getting a bolt into my knee, says Jon Sindre Fjellvang. Fjellvang has worked with humor at news for several years, but is perhaps best known for his parodies of Karpe. Among other things, he helped create and play in the comedy documentary “Carp – finished, but not come and dry” which was released last year. Recently, he has been working on a new film in the same genre. Here he plays for Norway, and for the moment perhaps the world’s biggest football star, namely Erling Braut Haaland. But three days before recording, Fjellvang was extremely unlucky. – I realized that we should have a number of running scenes, and Haaland has a special way of running. So I went to a football field to practice it, he says. On crutches But the session did not go as planned. – I practiced walking like Haaland, took a few moves and pretended to score. Right after I felt that “now I have it”, my knee failed. At the doctor, he was told that his meniscus had torn. – And then we had a production meeting the next day, and then they were like: “Are we ready for recording, guys? Everyone has control over what they should have control over?” And then I came in with crutches, and: “Yes, I’ll just have a small MRI first, and then I’ll be ready”. AT THE DOCTOR’S: Jon Sindre Fjellvang realized the seriousness when he was at the doctor’s. Photo: Kolbjørn Haugen – It was dramatic – It was dramatic, says editor-in-chief Christina Rezk Resar, when asked what they thought when the main actor appeared on crutches. – Because he was initially supposed to be in good shape, and it was a role that required a lot of running. It’s actually no joke to be a footballer, continued Resar. The production team finally chose to postpone the recording for a couple of weeks. In the most intense running scenes, Fjellvang had to be helped by stand-ins. – I think it was a bit bitter not to be allowed to do the sprint part in the running scenes. We have used some film tricks, and I hope it doesn’t look too good, says Fjellvang. THE IRONY: Fjellvang, who was supposed to train to play the world’s biggest football star, was suddenly stopped by one of the most typical football injuries. Photo: Kjetil Solhøi / news Frelsaren The film, which has been titled “The national team break”, is a humorous documentary about the pressure Erling Braut Haaland experiences before Norway’s fateful match in the European Championship qualification. The background for the idea was the thought of what happens if the star we expect so much from can’t take it anymore. – Because we are a Norway that is hungry for championships, and there is enormous pressure on Haaland to be the one who saves us, adds Fjellvang. TRANSFORMATION: Jon Sindre Fjellvang as Haaland. In order to look as much like the star player as possible, Fjellvang had to wear forehead prostheses, jaw prostheses and be made up for three hours each time. Photo: news He has created the film together with Kolbjørn Haugen and Albert Holskjær, and he promises that the audience can expect a funny film that laughs at the Norwegian media and Erling Braut Haaland. – And not least of how we as fans relate to this monster of a footballer, concludes Fjellvang.
