Isa Haas Joins América

The Águilas del América have officially announced the signing of Brazilian soccer player Isa Haas from Cruzeiro, marking her as the second addition for the upcoming Clausura 2026 tournament. This news follows weeks of inactivity in the transfer market, where they previously confirmed the acquisition of Xcaret Pineda from Oklahoma State University.

High Expectations in the Tournament

Under the guidance of coach Angel Villacampa, América enters this tournament with an immense pressure to take home the championship. After finishing as runners-up in both finals against Tigres and Pachuca in 2025, the need for a title is at an all-time high.

Career Highlights of Isa Haas

Haas began her career in 2017 with the youth teams of Porto Alegre International, shortly after the club revitalized its women’s division. In 2019, she took a step into European football by joining Sevilla in Spain, although she returned to Brazil after a brief stint.

Returning to Internacional, she played a vital role in the team’s success, contributing to a second-place finish in the Brazilian Championship Serie A1 in 2022, marking her 100 matches played with the club. In 2025, she transferred to Cruzeiro, participating in 17 games across the Brasileirao and Brazilian Super Cup.

On the international stage, Haas captained the Brazil U-17 team to victory in the 2018 South American Championship. Recently, she made her senior debut for Brazil in October 2024 and was part of the team that triumphed in the Copa América Femenina 2025.

América’s Ongoing Recruitment Strategy

Besides Isa Haas, América has also secured the signing of Xcaret Pineda, an exciting prospect from United States college football. Pineda excelled at Oklahoma State University, tallying five goals and two assists in her last season, showcasing significant offensive potential.

The Pineda family has soccer in their bones, with two brothers playing for Chicago Fire in MLS. Upon her arrival at the Benito Juárez International Airport, Pineda expressed her enthusiasm: “It’s incredible; I feel very happy, excited, and grateful for the opportunity. Eagles, I am already home.”

Future Challenges for América

The board’s investment in players like Sandra Cloths, Irene Guerrero, and Priscila Da Silva is indicative of a desire to build a competitive squad bolstered by young Mexican talents like Montserrat Saldivar and Aylin Avilez.

Despite these efforts, América Femenil’s results have been underwhelming, as they fell short of capturing the title after two finals in 2025. Fan patience is waning, with many demanding a championship that has eluded the team since Clausura 2023. Coach Angel Villacampa now faces pressure to deliver results in the forthcoming season.
