Designed to draw attention to ecological issues , the festival showcased an impressive lineup of musical talent. However, frustrations arose as attendees expressed their disappointment with the organization, particularly when it came to exiting the venue.
Navigating Festival Chaos: Over 100,000 Attendees Expected
“I’m shocked by the disorganized exit from We Love Green. What kind of poor organization is this?” one attendee vented on social media platform X. Other fest-goers lamented their experience, describing how they were stuck for 30 minutes in the rain after the last performance of British artist Charli XCX. Some managed to secure a ride via a VTC service, and one relieved participant tweeted, “Thank you, Bolt driver, for rescuing me from the hellish exit of We Love Green.”
Thousands of people were gathered in the Belle Étoile field on June 7 to enjoy the second day of the 11th edition of We Love Green. However, navigating the crowd proved to be a significant challenge. “It was completely unorganized; no one was directing us on where to go,” shared one festival-goer with actuParis. The challenging exit impacted attendee mobility significantly. Another participant noted, “It was a nightmare trying to leave We Love Green. We couldn’t take the metro or bus, and we waited for an Uber for an hour and a half, which cost us an arm and a leg because it was the only service that accepted us.” Despite repeated inquiries, the festival organizers had yet to respond to media questions regarding the organization of the event.
Since its inception in 2010, We Love Green has aimed to raise awareness about issues surrounding the ecological transition through conferences, workshops, and debates. The festival has also been a launching pad for several prominent pop and electronic music artists in France, such as Aya Nakamura. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance has surged, and this year, over 100,000 people are expected to participate.
