The man has a top position in a Norwegian business organisation. He is said to have placed a hidden camera in the bathroom of the flat he shared with a politician, two colleagues and a journalist. According to the victims in the case, the camera was mounted inside a mobile speaker, which belongs to the man. The loudspeaker was placed in the bathroom, and the victims believe they were filmed during their stay in Arendal. He feels great compassion for those affected, and of course wants the case undone. My client is on sick leave and is currently undergoing treatment, he continues. Confirms charges In addition to the accused man, two colleagues, one journalist and one politician lived in the same apartment in Arendal. During Arendal Week, it is common for organisations, companies and newsrooms to rent private homes because all the hotels are, so to speak, fully booked every year. – I can confirm that the case has been reported, says lawyer Cecilie Nakstad to news. She is the legal representative for the journalist who has been offended in the case. Nakstad says the man has been charged with “sexually offensive or other indecent behaviour”, according to section 298 of the Criminal Code. – Beyond that, I refer to the police’s investigation. My client hopes the investigation will be prioritized, so that the extent of the case can be clarified, she says. – Very seriously The chairman of the organization where the man has a top position, will not comment on the matter to news and points out that it is being treated as a personnel matter. Lawyer Harald Kvarme assists the two female colleagues. He says they are exposed to an incident which they perceive as very serious. – This is a police matter, and the investigation is ongoing. Therefore, my clients do not wish to comment further, for the sake of the investigation. What my clients are concerned about is that the police and prosecutors prioritize the case, and that it is resolved quickly, says Kvarme. He says a notification case has been opened with the employer. – The employer was notified immediately and has initiated a notification case in line with the company’s routines for this. The whistleblowers have been offered legal assistance by their employer, and that is the reason why I am now assisting my clients in this case, says Kvarme. The employer of the two women confirms that a notice has been submitted. – We have been made aware of an incident which has affected two of our employees during Arendal Week. A notice has been lodged against a person outside our organisation, and we are handling the case in line with our routines, says the manager to news. – This is a police matter.
