Indicted for defrauding a woman and her daughter for twelve years – news Vestfold and Telemark – Local news, TV and radio

It came to light when the trial started in Telemark District Court on Monday morning. Claimed that he worked in the intelligence service The man allegedly tricked the woman into believing that she and her daughter were in danger, but that he was supposed to ensure their safety through his alleged job in the intelligence service. He is also said to have claimed that he cooperated closely with the police, security guards and child protection in the case. Everything was a lie. In this way, he was able to transfer at least NOK 1.8 million in cash from the victim in the case. She also bought two cars for the man during the period He was also allowed to live and eat for free in the victim’s house. The two women had to deal with a number of limitations in their everyday lives. Among other things, they had to state where they were traveling and who they were with. He was the one who decided who they could associate with. Among other things, they were refused to go to a funeral. The women also had to park the car in a very special way outside the house. When the daughter in the house wanted to apply for a scholarship for upper secondary school, the man who had moved in said no. – Lived in a bubble In court, the defendant puts all his cards on the table. – I think it’s absolutely terrible. – I want progress in the case, and I want to be done with this. I have nothing to complain about what has been said, says the accused man. – Overall, I plead guilty. I will also acknowledge the compensation claim, he says. The man blames his own psyche as the reason why he committed the offences. He himself received work verification allowance for parts of the period he lived with the woman and her daughter. He struggles to give a good explanation as to why he has behaved in this way towards the woman. – I lived in a bubble, he says. – What was the money going to? asks prosecutor Jon Harald Borgen. – I do not know. But I have no reason to distrust what is being said. He goes on to say that he wants the women to be well. – I see that I have been a burden. He blames childhood experiences as the reason he lies. The man’s defender, Jonny Sveen, asks if he himself has believed what he has lied about. – Yes, I have probably done that. Claimed to be the father of the woman’s daughter The woman’s daughter must have been around ten years old when the defendant moved into their house. In front of the girl, who was around ten years old at the time, he is said to have claimed that he was the child’s father. This is not true. The reason for this must have been because the defendant thought it was better for the case that the two adults appeared as a couple on the outside. They never have been. The man is said to have known the woman for a long period before he moved in with her. They must have met in connection with a business the woman’s family ran. Large sums found in drawer section The regime in the house is said to have lasted for twelve years, before the two women became suspicious after their daughter moved out. Eventually, the daughter recorded conversations with the defendant, in which he claimed that he was in contact with security guards. He should then have been fitted with a plug in his ear to support the claim that he was talking to security personnel. During a search, the police found over NOK 900,000 in a drawer section at the defendant’s home and in the man’s car. Four days have been set aside for the trial in the Telemark district court. – This is a case that extends over many years. It is therefore not possible for my client to give a full explanation, says Sveen. The defendant has been present since the morning, but has asked to follow large parts of the case on video.
