– Important for Norway’s security – Greater Oslo

– This is an expression of the unity that exists in NATO, and between Norway and the USA. This is what Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre says after he visited the American aircraft carrier “Harry S. Truman” in the Oslofjord today. The ship is among the largest in the world, and today Støre was given an exclusive tour with Captain Dave Snowden. – This is more than a ship. This is a platform, an airport, a large electronic capacity to monitor sea areas. – In the world we live in, this is important for Norway’s security, says Støre. At the same time, the Prime Minister rejected that this was a form of provocation against Russia. – Norway takes care of its security, we are not a threat to anyone. Several nightclubs in Oslo have therefore increased staffing and security for the weekend. Heidi’s Bier Bar at Rådhusplassen is one of them. – We are ready for the potential that there will be a lot of people here this weekend, said general manager, Jonas Johansen, on Friday evening. But, according to the police, the capital has not yet seen anything like “Texas conditions”. – It has been like a completely normal night until Saturday, says operations manager, Gabriel Langfeldt. It has not been completely quiet, however. The police state that they have had to turn away over a hundred motorists who had planned to drive out to see the aircraft carrier. – If you are interested in seeing the ship up close, the police suggest using your legs, bicycle or public transport. A restricted area has been set up around the ship, which has now dropped anchor outside Malmøya in Oslo. In connection with the visit, a restricted area has been established in Indre Oslofjord. If you break the rules here, it can cost you NOK 25,000 in fines. The defense will not say how long military personnel will be seen in the city. On the other hand, they emphasize that the visit sends a clear signal to Russia that NATO is united and ready to react if our security were to be threatened.
