11 June 2024 at 11:27 ICC investigates allegations of war crimes in Sudan The International Criminal Court (ICC) is investigating allegations of war crimes against humanity in Sudan. The town of al-Fashir in the Darfur region has become a new front between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary group RSF. They have been at war since April 2023, and millions of people are internally displaced in the country. – I am extremely concerned about allegations of widespread international crimes being committed in al-Fashir and the surrounding areas right now, says prosecutor Karim Khan in a video statement. Khan says the ICC has received credible allegations of ethnically motivated attacks on civilians, widespread cases of abuse and attacks on hospitals. Khan has previously told the UN Security Council that he believes war crimes have also been committed in the town of El Geneina, which is also in the Darfur region, writes Reuters.
