Norwegian artists and various music organizations have requested that Israel be banned from Eurovision this year, due to the war in Gaza. On Tuesday evening, the Israeli final went off. She does not think Israel will withdraw. – It is hugely important for Israel to be part of Eurovision, this year more than ever, she says. Hilde Henriksen Waage is an expert on the conflict in Israel. – I do not think that Israel, without much stronger pressure than there is now, will withdraw, says Waage. On the contrary, she believes that they will bet more than ever on the competition. Both Thomassen and Waage believe that Israel will blame security reasons if they withdraw before May.
