– I read that we are overpaid parasites – news Nordland

Geir Ove Tømmerbakk works daily as an aircraft technician at Bodø Airport. He himself is still in full-time work, but many of his colleagues have gone on strike. And it is precisely the strike that has led to strong reactions in the comment fields. – I read in the comments field that we are overpaid parasites and what is worse. On Saturday night, the first aircraft technicians went on strike. When Tømmerbakk saw the reactions that came, he posted a stated post on Facebook on Saturday. – What is sad is that people out there go with a belief that we are highly paid and only drink coffee all day long. Tømmerbakk has approved that the Facebook post is mentioned, but refers to the leader of the union for further comments. And the boss himself, Jan Skogseth of the Norwegian Aircraft Technician Organization (NFO), has received very strong feedback on the strike. To TV 2, Skogseth says that he has received death threats on social media. – It is clear that it is uncomfortable to receive such threats when you use a legal tool such as a strike when you are in a negotiation situation, he says to the channel. Takes out more on strike on Friday During the weekend, 106 NFO aircraft technicians went on strike. This corresponds to one quarter of the members of the trade union. The reason is that aircraft technicians demand a salary increase of about 18 percent. NFO: Jan Skogseth is the leader of the Norwegian Aircraft Technician Organization (NFO). Photo: news – We are really stuck right now. I perceive NHO Luftfart as not very interested in real negotiations, says Skogseth to news. And from next Friday, another 39 technicians will be taken out on strike. – A report was recently sent in about an escalation after a meeting tonight, the NFO leader told news on Monday night. – Sad to hear Skogseth says that it is not pleasant to read the feedback that colleague Tømmerbakk discusses in the post. – Geir Ove generally has a good presentation of the profession and the importance of it, he says and continues: – It is sad to hear that people look at us like that. It is clear that those who comment are not very informed about what we do. – Unrealistic demands Negotiation partner NHO Luftfart has described the wage demands as unrealistic, – The aircraft technicians should orientate their demands to reality and accept a settlement in line with bus drivers, police and nurses. The rest of society has adapted, Flyteknikerne has not, says leader of NHO Luftfart Torbjørn Lothe to news. UNREALISTIC: CEO of NHO Luftfart, Torbjørn Lothe, believes the wage demands from NFO are unrealistic. Photo: NHO Luftfart But NFO leader Skogseth believes that the requirements are in place. – We believe we have realistic requirements based on the situation we are in. It is a situation with supply and demand and as of today, the airlines are not able to get the technicians they want. He also mentions that around 25 per cent of the members of NFO can retire within five years, and that recruitment to the profession is weak. Night work affects average salary Lothe has previously stated to Aftenposten that the average salary for aircraft technicians is NOK 783,861, with the addition This Skogseth believes gives an unvarnished presentation. – What you earn depends on how much inconvenience you have. There are some who earn well, but then they are at work at night, on weekends and on holidays. Then you are compensated for it. Skogseth says that if you look at an aircraft technician who only works during the day, without inconvenience allowances, the average salary is less than 600,000 a year. Aviation analyst: – Out of proportion Hans Jørgen Elnæs is an aviation analyst in the company Winair. He tells news that the strike so far has only led to few route cancellations. – But as time goes on, this strike can have significantly greater consequences. ANALYST: Hans Jørgen Elnæs is an aviation analyst at Winair. Photo: Marit Sirum-Eikre / news He believes the aircraft technicians’ strike is coming at a difficult time for the airlines. – The airlines have had the worst period in the history of aviation in the last two years, and several companies have serious financial problems. At the same time, he is aware that in the long run, the salary of aircraft technicians should be raised, so that recruitment to the profession is also strengthened. – Over time, one should look at the possibility, but right now the requirement seems to be a bit out of proportion. Widerøe reports few delays Information Manager in Widerøe, Catharina Solli, tells news that the airline has done well through the weekend and Monday despite the strike. – We have had a couple of cases, including a flight from Bodø to Leknes that had to be delayed a couple of hours. PRELIMINARY CONTROL: Communications manager in Widerøe, Catharina Solli says that the company has only had a few postponements as a result of the aircraft technician strike. Photo: Einar Aslaksen / Einar Aslaksen The plane was going in for technical maintenance at night, but then there would be no technicians at work. – Then we had to speed up the technical maintenance, to prevent the plane from standing still. Unfavorable time Aircraft technician Geir Ove writes that it is both incredibly sad and unfavorable that the strike is coming now. – But ultimately it is about maintaining a safe aviation in the years to come. When you once go out and fly again, send a little thought to those who keep your plane airworthy, Tømmerbakk concludes in the Facebook post.
