– I don’t think it will be charming – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcasting schedule

– After a career-defining injury, you make a comeback in a sprint that you might not be able to do until the following year, and then you win by three seconds and are dissatisfied… I don’t think it will be charming. I cheer for those who like to win, and who love to win, says Astrid Øyre Slind (34) in the podcast “Good days”. She is Norway’s best long-distance runner on the women’s side, and this weekend took part in the World Cup in Lillehammer. When news asks her to elaborate on why she reacts so strongly to Klæbo’s behaviour, she believes it is about inspiration. Don’t understand – I would have been much more euphoric if I had crossed the finish line and won. He seems to have done it a little too many times for him to be so happy about it, says Øyre Slind. PARTICIPATED: Øyre Slind was number 17 in the 10 kilometer joint start in Lillehammer on Friday. Photo: Geir Olsen / NTB She thinks it may have something to do with him being such a raw runner, but she still doesn’t understand the great lack of cheers when he crosses the finish line first. – It probably has to do with personality, and you shouldn’t “fake” that you are happier than you are, she says, but continues: – When you see someone take off their braces and you’re like: “yes, then what one says”. There is no raw experience to watch. When someone has fought through and then wins, then you see that it is the blink of an eye. It rubs off on the viewer, she says further. – Now there is talk of Klæbo being as superb as Johaug was, is there a danger of men’s cross-country skiing becoming boring? – In this sense, it is good if the Russians come back soon, because the fight between Bolshunov, the Russians and the Norwegians gives a different tension. It is difficult to see who will really put Johannes in his place, because he is so good that it can get a bit boring, she says further. Little celebration? See and rate here. Bad for celebrating After Klæbo crossed the finish line as the first man in the sprint final at Lillehammer, there was little jubilation to be seen from the Trønder. Klæbo thinks it is not because he has become too accustomed to winning. REJECTS THE CRITICISM: Johannes Høsflot Klæbo. Photo: Heiko Junge / NTB – I think that if you saw the joy when I took my first World Cup victory, I don’t think I celebrate anything differently now. Then I was so nervous that I would speak English in the victory interview, that I went and thought about it during the race, says Klæbo to news, and continues: – Now fortunately the fear has gone away, but the joy is always there, and that There is nothing I think is more fun than winning a ski race. Astrid Øyre Slind believes that Petter Northug and Bjørn Dæhlie were good at celebrations, and misses the same, “raw” celebrations at Klæbo. – Is it the personality that makes it not the same? – Yes, I think it could be something. I’ve never been big on celebrations. I try to cross the finish line first, and that is the focus. But as I said, if you go back and watch old videos, I think it’s relatively similar, he says. THE PODIUM: Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, Federico Pellegrino and Even Northug made up the trio on the podium after the sprint in the World Cup at Lillehammer. Photo: Geir Olsen / NTB Defends Klæbo Swedish Calle Halfvarsson, who was dishonored after his third place in Ruka last weekend, shows his sympathy for Klæbo. KLÆBO SUPPORT: Calle Halfvarsson. Photo: Heiko Junge / NTB – He wins everything, so I understand that it’s not the same fun every time. He is so superior. I think he is happy inside, but he may not be the type to stand and celebrate, says Halfvarsson. That Petter Northug was better at celebrating than Klæbo is, Halfvarsson believes, is about one thing: – He didn’t win as often as Klæbo. Klæbo wins all the time – everything. Petter also won a lot, but nowhere near what Klæbo is doing now. Even Northug believes that news must ask the main character himself if he is tired of winning races. – Maybe he will have to be number two and three going forward, says Northug, who himself was number three. – You don’t mind taking over that place? – I do what I can, in any case. On Sunday, the cross-country runners will be in action at 20 kilometers on the clock. The women start at 10.45am, while the men will be in action from 1pm.
