– I deserve criticism – news Norway – Overview of news from different parts of the country

The right-wing leader says in Politisk kvarter that there was an agreement with her husband Sindre Finnes to inform about activity, which was not kept. – I deserve criticism. Not least because I didn’t know how big the scope was, says Erna Solberg. – Don’t trade for more than what was agreed. I deserve criticism for not being able to establish good enough information, says Solberg. – If you were prime minister today and received unanimous criticism, would you resign? – That would be a question that had to be assessed at that time. If I had been prime minister, it would have been a question of trust or not trust from the Storting. Solberg points out that as leader of Høgre, she does not answer to the Storting, but to Høgre’s voters and the party organization, who must decide whether she can regain power. Knew about share purchases – I have been incompetent in matters I have handled when I was prime minister, Erna Solberg told a press conference on 15 September. Her husband’s stock trading during Solberg’s eight years as prime minister was the last in a series of so-called integrity cases that rocked Norway. Erna Solberg’s missteps mean that she is today strongly criticized by the Storting. Before that, she is a guest in Politisk kvarter, where she publicly comments on the criticism for the first time. – The majority believes that Solberg has insufficiently fulfilled his duty to investigate her husband’s share trading, said the prosecutor Grunde Almeland (V) in February. The Control and Constitution Committee had then put behind it several months of investigating the integrity of ministers, former ministers and a former prime minister. Erna Solberg has said that she knew her husband traded shares. She still did not ask for a complete overview, but asked Finnes to inform about “major share purchases and major changes in the portfolio”. As a result of the missing information from Finnes, Solberg was disqualified on several occasions. All the parties agree that “it is highly objectionable that Erna Solberg during her time as prime minister was incompetent in several matters handled by her government”. Everyone apart from Høgre believes that Erna Solberg should have investigated her husband’s share trading better. Stock traders exposed In the summer of 2023, the Støre government was hit by a series of integrity cases. On 31 August, E24 wrote that Sindre Finne’s shares were sold when Erna Solberg was prime minister. It was only after the local elections that the extent of the share trading became known. Among other things, it emerged that during Solberg’s eight years as Prime Minister, he carried out over several thousand transactions – despite warnings from the Prime Minister’s office. Økokrim investigated the case, and found that there were no grounds for starting an investigation either against Finnes or the former prime minister.
