A week ago, Stavanger mayor Sissel Knutsen Hegdal said she is stepping down as mayor. Today she tells Stavanger Aftenblad that she is still mayor. She has not submitted any application for exemption from office. When the newspaper asks why, she replies that she is mayor until such an application is made. Now she is on sick leave. Secretary General of the Conservative Party, Tom Erlend Skaug, tells the newspaper that it is up to the city council who is the city’s mayor and up to Stavanger Conservative Party who will be their mayoral candidate.
