At 20.15 the police posted a message on Twitter that the Hurtigruten MS “Nordnorge” has been evacuated. The ship is docked in Ålesund, while the police carry out investigations on the ship. – MS “Nordnorge” received an anonymous phone call earlier this evening which, in the worst case, can be perceived as a threat. We have no indications that this is real, but as a precautionary measure the ship contacted the police, writes Martin Henriksen, press officer Hurtigruten Norway. The police state that the message to the ship is vague, but causes concern. Borge Amdam, operations manager in Møre and Romsdal police district says that they are currently investigating the report that has been received. – We do both technical and tactical investigations, says Amdam. – Safety comes first The passengers are gathered at a Scandic Parken hotel in the center of Ålesund. There will be about 240 passengers who have now been evacuated. – For Hurtigruten Norway, the safety of guests and crew always comes first, and the captain and the company decided in consultation that guests and crew go ashore until further notice, writes Henriksen. MS “Nordnorge” will be delayed, and thus have to cancel ports further along the route.
