Paying for a soccer match, series, or movie has become increasingly common. Gone are the days when you could simply sit on the couch and turn on the TV; now, one needs to subscribe to a streaming platform for access to the most popular content. According to the CNMC, as of mid-last year, 63.1% of households with internet access used paid platforms to watch audiovisual content online.
One of the most utilized platforms, just behind Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, is Movistar Plus+. Recently, it has become possible to access it for free for an entire year.
One Year of Free Series, Movies, and Sports with Movistar Plus+
CaixaBank has launched a new promotion to attract new customers, according to financial comparative site HelpMyCash.com. The bank is offeringone year of Movistar Plus+, valued at €99.90, to the first 10,000 new customers who open a commission-free online account. There’s no need to set up direct deposit or utility payments—just open the account, activate Bizum, and make three card purchases before May 31.
The platform’s catalog includes movies like *Sirt*, *Los Pecadores*, *Sorda*, or *Cónclave*, alongside series and live access to popular awards shows like the Golden Globes and the Oscars. Movistar Plus+ users can also watch daily LaLiga matches and the best game from the Champions League and Premier League each matchday.
This offer is only available to new CaixaBank customers who don’t currently have an active subscription to Movistar Plus+.
While it’s not mandatory to set up direct deposit, those who do can receive an extra gift: €150 net if their salary is €900 or more, or €250 net if it’s €1,500 or more. However, this requires setting up three utility payments quarterly, making three card purchases every three months, and a stay of four years, whereas the Movistar Plus+ promotion does not entail these conditions.
Up to €760 in Gifts
CaixaBank isn’t the only bank enticing new customers with gifts, as verified by HelpMyCash, which analyzedthe best accounts featuring bank gifts.
New customers at BBVA, for instance, can receivean extra pay of €63.33 per month for a year (up to €760 gross in total) just for opening a commission-free online account. The bank offers up to €10 a month for using Bizum, card payments, and utility payment setup, plus €33.33 monthly for salary or pension deposits of at least €800. Customers can choose which requirements to meet, and the program has no penalties for months when requirements are not fulfilled.
For those who prefer a lump-sum incentive, Abanca provides€500 gross for new customers who open a Cuenta Clara and set up a salary or pension of at least €1,200 for two years. Abanca’s account has no commissions and includes a free debit card.
Banco Santander is also giving away money to new customers. Specifically, the bank offers €300 to those whoopen their commission-free online account and set up two monthly utility payments and a salary or pension of at least €600. If monthly income is €2,500 or more, the reward increases to €400. These conditions must be maintained for two years.
